Israeli
warplanes have bombed another mosque in the southern Gaza Strip, as the
attacks on the populated territory continue for a 17th day.
The
Monday air raid was part of an extensive aerial operation, which
included the bombing of at least 25 targets across the costal sliver, the Ynet reported.
The
Israeli military says that the mosque came under attack after the
forces spotted gunmen shooting from the building. It also claims that
antiaircraft and Qassam rockets had been found inside the religious
site.
Israel has targeted mosques on several occasions since
the start of Operation Cast Lead on December 27, alleging that the
buildings had been used as arms storage.
Israeli aircraft
bombed a mosque packed with worshippers in the northern Gaza Strip on
January 3, killing and wounding scores of people.
The 17-day
long offensive against the strip has so far claimed at least 905 lives,
including 277 children. More than 4,100 others were also wounded in the
attacks.
